A individual indicted with harassing Kate McCann allegedly left her a recorded message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who a jury heard has consistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial accused with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told call records and information retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test during the past two years.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most covered child disappearance cases and remains unsolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

One recorded message, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm fat and plain like Madeleine was, but I know what I know."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "Suppose there is a small chance that I'm her? What happens next? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"

"I do not need money, I have a living here in Poland, I just want to know," the recording stated.

The tribunal was told that through emails, mobile messages and calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a DNA test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a effort to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a early life with the McCanns.

The investigator, a data specialist with law enforcement who gathered the data, informed the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore reached out to family friends of the McCanns, according to the call data.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's recording declaring "I will persist and I plan to establish my point."

The court was informed Mrs Spragg struck up a association via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' property in that area in last December.
